I have a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy and have experience seeing clients in private practice, the public sector (Child and Youth Mental Health Services) and in school settings.
I firmly believe that change and healing is available to anyone. All too often we feel isolated in our challenges, unsure of where to turn for support. Through my life and work experiences, I have come to realize that we possess more resources than we’re often aware of. I work collaboratively with clients as we discover, connect with and strengthen those resources that will equip clients to reach their therapeutic goals. My relational, experiential approach to counselling is rooted in Attachment Theory and the extensive and rapidly growing body of research that demonstrates the connection between the brain, body and emotions and the efficacy of treatment that engages them all.
I recognize and deeply admire the courage clients access as they enter into and journey through therapy. The experience of feeling safe, seen, accepted and supported is the foundation for healing and growth. I seek to honor the vulnerability displayed by clients through deep compassion and empathy for the uniqueness and validity of each person’s experience.
Emily has received training in Emotion Focused Family Therapy, Satir, Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples, and Sandtray. She sees individuals (men and women), couples, families and children.
