Cheryl Sales

Experiencing the presence of another coming alongside me in the peaks and valleys of life is one of the main reasons I wanted to become a therapist. It takes a lot of courage to ask for help, and I believe that when people have a safe place, this provides room for growth, healing, change, and exploration. The way I see people is that their stories and circumstances are unique, valuable, and worthy of being heard. Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unheard can be a hard place to be, but no matter where you may find yourself on your journey, I am honoured to come alongside you amidst the pain and messiness.

Since obtaining a bachelor’s degree in psychology, I am currently a student at Trinity Western University pursuing a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. As I understand people exist systemically and are connected to others as well as themselves, I draw on somatic, trauma, and attachment-based theories to inform my approach. Particularly, I have found interest in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS).

“Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it.”
